Zoya — Yara

Zoya Yara from the Fall 2011 Mirrors Collection.

Yara is a "medium smoky olive drab with an illuminating splash of bright gold glitter." Zoya's description is spot on. This is a beautiful colour. It's a very unique colour but it's also neutral in it's tone.

Formula on this was beautiful. 2 thin coats to full coverage and it went on like a dream. I did this mani really fast before going to my niece's 6th birthday party, so I wasn't terribly careful when applying this, but I had absolutely no issues in my rush. Drying time on this was also very good.

As a personal note, I fear I am getting sick! (Flu?) So I may not be posting much this week. I will try to queue up a few things that I either haven't posted before or that I posted on my tumblr and will just repost here. I hope you all can forgive me!

Until next time~ :)

Glitter Gal - Lizard Belly

 Glitter Gal Lizard Belly

Lizard Belly is a deep blackened green base with prismatic holographic glitter. Honestly, I haven't seen any swatches of this polish that actually made it look green, but when I got it in the mail and did a quick swatch you can definitely see it.

Photographing holos is always such a pain in the butt, so I know these aren't the greatest pictures.

I actually layered Lizard Belly over Barielle Date Night to bring out more of the green. These images are 2 thin coats of Lizard Belly over 1 thin coat of Date Night.

Formula on this polish is amazing. You don't need any special base coats for these holos unlike the Nfu-Oh ones. It covers well on its own with no bald spots in about 2-3 thin coats depending on how your technique is. (I tend to rush so I have to do more coats.)

The Glitter Gal polishes can be purchased from Llarowe for $14USD for a 9ml and they now have bigger 15ml bottles for $20USD. These are Australian brand polishes and holographics, so the price is a little high for these teeny bottles. But I definitely think they're worth it.

Until next time~ :)

Laissez les bons temps rouler!

Let the good times roll!

Here in south Louisiana, Mardi Gras is a huge part of life. Between the parties, balls, tableaus, and parades, it's pretty nonstop from Twelfth Night on. You can read more about Mardi Gras here. I actually ride in a Mardi Gras parade and we're having a party tonight so I decided to do my nails to celebrate the occasion. :)

I used the traditional colours of purple, green, and gold for this mani. Now it's not exactly how I had envisioned it, but it works well enough for me. Heh. I initially wanted to do them all gold with purple and green polka dots but I was having issues with my polishes drying too fast on me to dot them!

For this mani I used: Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear in Golden-I, China Glaze Emerald Sparkle, and Petites Wild Plum.

I know I'm not that great with nail art but usually I don't have issues making polka dots. So I ended up with just one accent nail dotted, then I decided to strip my thumb nail with a nail art brush to break up the plain nails a bit more. If I was any good at nail art I would have drawn a crown and possibly even a mask on my nails, but unfortunately I was not graced with such drawing skills!

Anyway, I hope you guys like! I feel like I should add some glitter or something to this mani to make it more glam but I am too lazy today!

Until next time~ :)

Mary Kay - Coral Stone

(Artificial light, no flash.)

Mary Kay Coral Stone

My friend actually got me this for Christmas knowing I have become a bit of a nail polish addict. XD

This is a lovely reddish coral, it's more red in real life as opposed to my picture. Formula on this was nice, it only took 2 coats to full opacity.

I  normally don't go for shades like these, but I actually really liked it on me.

Until next time~ :)

Speciallità Hits no Olimpo - Ares

This is Ares from the Speciallità Hits no Olimpo collection, the last of these polishes I have.

Ares is a  bold, red linear holographic polish. Application was just like the others. (You can see my previous swatches for Apolo and Zeus.) This is 2 coats. I saw an awesome layering combo with this polish that I want to try out in the near future, so hopefully look forward to that. :)

I would have loved to get my hands on all these holos, but $10 ea for such tiny bottles is a bit painful on my wallet. But I totally understand these are imported from Brazil and the work that Leah Anne @llarowe puts into running the shop and getting all these non-US polishes to us is awesome.

Anyway, until next time~ :)

Barielle - A Bouquet for Ava w/ Finger Paints Motley

Barielle A Bouquet for Ava with Finger Paints Motley from the Special Effects collection.

Please excuse the quality of my photos. I tried my best to get them to be true to life colour wise, but it really just was not working for me. The best photo for TTL colour representation would be the second image.

*NOTE* All of my photos still have my tumblr watermark on them and I am just too lazy to change them out right now. Lol.

New location!

After being strictly on tumblr for the last several months, I think I am finally going to move over to Blogger-land. At least this way there's an easier way to comment and interact with people who may want to leave feedback or other things. :)

Anyway, I hope to have one of my first posts up soon! I am having camera issues so I do hope that doesn't completely stop me from posting. I may just have to revert to using my cell phone camera or "borrow" my mom's little P&S.
